A Year in Review: Global Database's 2020 Retrospective

News & Press Release - GlobalDatabase.com
Back to the list

2020 has been one hell of a ride with a surfeit of surprises always around the corner, ganging up on businesses and causing troubles. Apart from the unprecedented mess, the year has emphasized the need to always be prepared for the possible worst and have readily available up-to-date data for immediate decisions.

Among the main achievements we at Global Database scored this year is managing to give a helping hand to disoriented businesses with accurate and plentiful data, bolstered by a series of changes and improvements to our business intelligence platform.

Launching Global Database V3: New UI and Enhanced Functionality

First and foremost, in 2020 we’ve upgraded our B2B intelligence platform by launching a new version. It features an improved UI, a series of tweaks to the users’ liking, and a more mobile-friendly design. Peer lists building, company lookups, executive search and plenty of other possibilities are now even simpler to exploit due to an extended variety of filters available with our platform. Besides, the option to export only one or several types of certain data along with the one to pay directly online (e.g. for users who have reached their download limits) are now at disposal.

Performing research with the new version of our platform is a rather straightforward task. You can easily segment businesses across 190+ countries by using the appropriate filters to sift through 70+ millions of entries:

With our new user interface, the resulting list shows 50 companies at a time, but you can scroll-down to load more companies, if available. Additionally, you can perform bulk actions - select/deselect, save as a list, export as XLS list, save search, or send to enrichment in case some custom data needs to be added.

Our global database asynchronously updates companies fitting the criteria. Moreover, there is a search history to help you quickly navigate past inquiries. While there is a multitude of ways to find companies, it is not yet possible to sort by employees: you can circumvent this limitation by using the number of employees feature and adjusting the lower bound. When viewing company structure with many subsidiaries, they will appear without details and you can easily click on them and move to their company profile, designed so as not to overwhelm any user with too much information.

There are additional goodies spread out such as clicking on a company name to copy it to the clipboard, search history and something that users do not generally encounter in an intelligence service - a tenders database.

Enhanced Data Enrichment Options: Simplified and Efficient Custom Intelligence Lookup

At the moment of writing this post, our B2B company intelligence platform contains in-depth profiles of over 70 million companies from all around the world. Being honest, we do not guarantee that you will find 100% of the intel you’d be looking for, and yes there will be few blank fields here and there. Actually, we’ve already mentioned the possible and impossible B2B providers’ data coverage and can still affirm that if an intelligence provider promises you both accurate data and no empty cells - they are lying.

Regardless, in our continuous effort to complete our database with more and more up-to-date entries, we launched a new and improved way to enrich the data you need, in the case you cannot find them listed in our platform. With us, it takes the form of a custom data lookup to enrich your data according to your requirements.

One of the options to obtain data that is not readily available with our B2B database is via list upload enrichment. If the list you have features any of the following, we will find the information you need and provide it to you at short notice:

The way you can submit your list for enrichment is pretty straightforward, and once it is uploaded you are provided with the choice of preferences by which you want us to look up for data and/or the fields you would like our team to fill in.

The second option mostly regards corporate contact data enrichment and has always proved efficient for our clients when searching for key people in the companies of their interest. As in the example below, you can select the department that matters to your particular goal and the seniority level of the respective contact. You’ve probably been in a situation when you know the names and contact details of your target company’s CEO and CTO, but not that of the head of marketing. Let us know what you need and we will fill in the blanks. Besides, you can simply type in the description (job-wise) of the employee(s) you’d be interested in contacting, and our in-house team will find all the information you require.

Moreover, it will not take us ages to give you an answer: we guarantee a 1-hour turnaround on individual contact enrichment requests and a 24-hours turnaround for larger enrichment requests.

Business Credit Reporting: Easy Onboarding and Risk-Aware Decisions

Last but not the least, in 2020 we’ve launched our business credit reporting for twenty-four countries. Credit data converges into the database with the help of APIs and custom research.

Currently, Global Database Business Credit Reports are available for companies registered in the Americas (the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia), Europe (the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Benelux, Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden) and Asia (Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China). The reports feature an extensive range of information, some of the main data points being:

With the addition of Business Credit Reporting, Global Database is a one-stop platform able to handle multiple departments. Since all the information is converged in a single license, companies can save quite a substantial amount of money as a single package will be able to suffice their needs. The credit risk solution can be purchased as a standalone or complement your current subscription. In terms of pricing, it will differ based on volume and number of industries and countries. Moreover, in due time we at Global Database will accomplish our initial purpose of offering information truly “globally”.

All in All...

During 2020 among the many clients of Global Database, the most prominent were Amazon, Vodafone, WeWork, Dyson, and the Italian Trade Agency. Our business has seen a considerable boost amidst the pandemic, the reasoning being that companies, more than ever, were looking to reassess the situation, review the supply chain, and plan for possible fault points. The prohibition of business gatherings and events has pushed representatives to engage in the online arena.

Opportunities such as optimising onboarding processes (API-based), running credit checks, performing due diligence, monitoring business partners have become effortless. But we are not going to stop here. One of our 2021 resolutions is to expand our business credit reporting for over 190 countries, including offline reports for regions where getting access to such data is rather difficult, be it due to environmental or political influence, or any other reason. Therefore, any client request will be achievable as the data will be compiled from local ground sources.
