Global Database is committed to safeguarding the privacy of users of the Site, whilst ensuring that you receive a high quality service. Please read the following Privacy Policy to understand how Global Database uses and protects the information that you provide.

2. THE INFORMATION GLOBAL DATABASE COLLECTS AND HOW IT IS USED

2.1

Global Database collects personal information from you when you:

  • Register to use the Site. If you register to use the Site, Global Database collects personal information such as your name, company name, username and e-mail address.
  • Place an order. If you place an order, Global Database will also collect further information, including your telephone number and your address.
  • Sign up to an e-alert. If you sign up to an e-alert service, Global Database collects personal information such as your name, company name, country of residence and the topics in which you are interested.
  • Contact Global Database. If you contact Global Database via the Site, for example to request a speaker or for any other reason, Global Database collects personal information such as your name, company name and contact details as well as any other personal information you disclose in your message to us.

Global Database uses the personal information it collects:

  • to personalize the service you receive so that the Site recognizes you on subsequent visits and to send you marketing information on new products, research and special promotional offers;

3. INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

4. LEGAL REQUESTS

Global Database may need to disclose personal information to protect Global Database and Global Database licensors’ rights and property or to comply with any applicable law or valid legal process.

5. TRANSFER OF INFORMATION OUTSIDE EEA

5.1

Global Database has offices worldwide. As such, your information may be transferred to, stored at, or processed at a destination outside the EEA within the Global Database group of companies.

6. AGGREGATED INFORMATION

6.1

Global Database may share non-personal aggregated statistics data about visitors to the Site and sales and traffic patterns with our partners and other third parties. Just to be clear, this information does not identify users in any personal capacity; it just gives generalised information about the users of the Site.

7. COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKED INFORMATION

7.1

While on the Site, certain information is automatically logged about how you are using the Site. This information may include the URL of the website which linked you to the Site, your IP address and the pages you visit while on the Site. The IP address indicates the location of your computer on the internet. IP addresses are not used to track your session and are not linked to anything personally identifiable.

9. SECURITY

9.1

As required by UK Data Protection law, Global Database follows strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given to Global Database, to prevent unauthorised access. In particular, Global Database uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software to encode your personal information. SSL encrypts your contact details and your password as it travels through the Internet. Encryption creates billions of code combinations to protect each transaction made on the Site, so your details cannot be viewed by anyone else using the internet.

9.2

Despite using this technology, Global Database cannot guarantee the security of the information that you disclose to Global Database. You accept the inherent risks of providing information and dealing on-line and will not hold Global Database responsible for any breach of security unless this is due to Global Database negligence or wilful default.

10. UPDATING ACCOUNT INFORMATION

10.1

If you want to update or change your registration information, please e-mail Global Database at customer.service@globaldatabase.com and we will update your account details.

11. RIGHT TO SEE YOUR INFORMATION

11.1

Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you have the right to see the personal information that Global Database holds about you, whether collected through your use of the Site or through any communications that you have had with Global Database. You will need to provide Global Database with a detailed written request and pay a small fee. 12. POLICY CHANGES

12.1

Global Database may change this Privacy Policy at any time by sending you an e-mail with the Global Database Privacy Policy or by posting a copy of them on the Site. Any changes will take effect seven (7) days after the date of our e-mail or the date on which Global Database posts the modified Privacy Policy on the Site, whichever is the earlier. Your continued use of the Site after that period expires means that you agree to be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.

13. UNSOLICITED COMMERCIAL E-MAIL (ANTI-SPAM) POLICY

Internet user privacy is of paramount importance to Global Database and our customers. We support the protection of client and consumers’ privacy rights as a fundamental element of our business. Since personal privacy integrity is at the very core of our business, our success depends on our ability to maintain the trust of the people viewing our products. To this end, we have two overriding policies:

Message Recipient Policy.

Before clients can receive Global Database’s messages, advertising or promotions, client must have agreed to receive such messages. Any recipient may request at any time to be removed from our list, and we will comply with that request. In addition, we will thoroughly investigate any allegations made by recipients relating to unsolicited messages.

13.2

Policy against advertising our website using unsolicited email messages

We require that all e-mails promoting www.globaldatabase.com or its products are sent only to clients who have agreed to receive such messages. We prohibit any advertising of our brand and Web site using unsolicited email messages. Not complying with this policy will cause partnership termination and/or affiliate account termination.
If you feel you’ve been sent unsolicited emails promoting our brand or website and would like to register a complaint, please email our abuse department (abuse@globaldatabase.com). We will immediately investigate all allegations made related to unsolicited messages.

13.3

Your email address is safe with us.

We never sell or share your email addresses with other companies.

13.4

You can unsubscribe at any time.

We require that each e-mail message sent out from globaldatabase.com includes an easy way for subscribers to remove themselves via an unsubscribe link. If you receive a newsletter or email and decide you don’t like it, simply click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. If you feel you’ve been sent unsolicited email and would like to register a complaint, please email our abuse department (abuse@globaldatabase.com).

13.5

Definition of Spam

Spam is unsolicited email sent in bulk. Any promotion, information or solicitation that is sent to a person via e-mail without their prior consent, where there is no pre-existing relationship between the sender and the recipient, is spam.

13.6

Examples of Spam

  • Any e-mail message that is sent to a recipient who had previously signed up to receive newsletters, product information or any other type of bulk email but later opted-out by indicating to the sender that they did not want to receive additional email, then that email is spam.
  • Any e-mail message that is sent to recipients that have had no prior association with the organization or did not agree to be e-mailed by the organization is spam.
  • Any e-mail message that is sent to a recipient without a way for a person to opt-out or request that future mailings not be sent to them, is spam.
  • Any email message that does not have a valid email address in the From Line is spam.
  • Any email message that contains any false or misleading information in the header, subject line or message itself is spam.
  • Any email message that promotes an adult web site is spam, unless the recipient has specifically requested information from that web site.
  • Any message that is sent to e-mail addresses that have been harvested off of web sites, newsgroups, or other areas of the Internet is spam.
