Global Database brings company intelligence to Microsoft 365 Copilot

Copilot users can now look up companies, filed financials, ownership and KYB evidence from official registries without leaving Copilot, Outlook or Teams.

London. Global Database today announced that Global Database (Copilot) is now available on Microsoft Marketplace. The app connects Microsoft 365 Copilot to company data collected directly from 400+ official registries across 200+ countries and territories, so teams can look up any company's registry record, financials and owners without leaving Copilot, Outlook or Teams.

Once installed, Copilot can find a company by its name, website or LinkedIn page and return its profile, filed financial statements, directors, shareholders, beneficial owners and group structure. It can also find the people who work there and enrich their contact details for outreach. Answers come from registry data rather than web search or the model's training data, and each record carries its source and the date it was collected.

The app is free to install. Users sign in once with their Global Database account through a secure OAuth flow, so there are no API keys to copy, store or rotate.

How it looks

Ask Copilot. Get the registry answer.

Ask in plain English. Copilot pulls the official record and shows where it came from, so you can check it before you act.

Why registry data belongs in Copilot

Microsoft 365 Copilot is fast becoming the place where office work happens. Microsoft reported more than 30 million paid Copilot seats in July 2026, double the figure at the start of the year, and people already use it to summarise email threads, prepare for meetings and draft documents.

Company research has been the gap. When someone asks Copilot whether a supplier is registered, who owns a new customer or what a prospect reported last year, Copilot on its own searches the web. That is fine for general questions. For KYB checks, supplier onboarding or a credit decision, teams need the official record, with a source they can show an auditor.

How teams use it

Compliance and KYB. Before opening an account for a business customer, an analyst can ask Copilot to confirm the company is active, list its directors and trace its beneficial owners, then keep the answer and its registry source as evidence.

Procurement. When a new supplier sends an invoice or asks to change bank details, Copilot in Outlook can check the company behind the message without anyone leaving the inbox.

Sales. Account teams can size up a prospect, review its financial trend and find the right people to contact before a first call.

Ownership and UBO. Risk teams can map a company's group structure up to its ultimate parent and see who the beneficial owners are, including for US companies and offshore jurisdictions.

Investment screening. Deal teams can build target lists, compare filed accounts side by side and check who owns and runs a business before the first conversation.

Try it yourself. Pick a use case, copy a prompt into Copilot and swap in your own company names.

How it works

The app is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard Microsoft supports for connecting Copilot to outside data. When a question needs company data, Copilot calls the Global Database MCP server, which returns the registry record. The same server already powers Global Database in Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants.

You ask Copilot in Outlook, Teams or chat Global Database secure sign-in, read-only Official registries 400+ registries, 200+ countries Answer comes back with its registry source and date

For IT and security teams, every lookup is read-only: Copilot can retrieve data but cannot create or change anything. In Outlook, the app can read details such as phone numbers, addresses and URLs in the message that is open, and nothing else in the mailbox. Admins decide who can use the app from the Microsoft 365 admin center, where they can allow it for everyone, for selected groups, or block it.

"Most company research starts in an email or a Teams chat. Now the answer comes from the official registry, with its source attached, and nobody has to leave the conversation to find it."

Good to know

  • Lookups use your quota. Each call Copilot makes counts toward your Global Database account, so broad questions across many companies use more.
  • Depth depends on the registry. Small companies in many countries file abbreviated accounts, and private US companies do not publish financial statements, so revenue can be missing even when other records exist.
  • Check before you act. Copilot can misread or over-summarise a result. Answers carry their registry source and date, and KYB, AML and credit decisions stay with your team.
  • For volume, use the API. Thousands of records, ongoing monitoring or loading data into a CRM belong in the API or bulk feeds rather than a chat.
